At the dinner table of lady Fiona Wachter, we make pleasantries as the food is brought out, and we spend some time talking together. The boys, her sons, seem quiet and normal during this time. Lady Fiona Wachter talks frequently about her dead husband and the boys seem a bit awkward when their late father is brought up. As we sit there, Calenya notices that the food smells very sweet, and she also hears a very faint scratching sound coming from the floor above us. Lady Fiona Wachter mentions that the smiles of the people participating in the festivals are hollow, lacking any real joy behind them. She also lets us know that she has a vast network of people who can help us achieve our goals, and explains that she wants to remove the mayor of Vallaki of his position (and hints that she wants us to help her). She makes it clear that she supports Strahd. ( I think that more information was given here but I might have missed it, so please feel free to add it)
As we continue, so do the noises coming from upstairs. When asked about the noise, she shrugs it off as noises from a cat. Since the noise seems to persist, she goes upstairs to “deal with the problem.” After she returns, we excuse ourselves, requesting more time to think about her proposal.
We go to the coffin maker’s house, where we see guards go inside and arrest Hendrick . We persuade them to let us see The Burgomaster in order to try and convince him to let go of Hendrick. We meet with the mayor who mentions that he will ask the guards (most of them are severely under equipped for battle) to take care of the vampires. The party debates whether with the help of the guards we could take care of the vampires. (Again, here there might be some information missing about what we discussed with the mayor?)
Later, we go back to the tavern and Calenya has a very serious talk with Rictavio, who claims that he has two scrolls that can resurrect people. We take a Long Rest.
In the morning, we visit the grave of Lady Fiona Wachter's husband, Nikolai Watcher. His grave reads: "Faith and Love are not lost in Death". We then go to the festival.
